Feeling Dead in the Morning? Here's What You Need

Have you ever woken up and not only looked a little dead, but you actually feel like a zombie too? Whether you’re hungover, or just got too much sleep- it doesn’t feel great. You’re sluggish, puffy, and unmotivated. So how can you pull yourself out of this gravely frame of mind and get back into your body?


Maybe you need a little self-care. The morning or evening rituals that may not feel like much are really doing wonders for your body. Mentally and physically!


Maybe your self-care routine is impeccable, but spiritually you could give yourself a spanking or two. Each of us have spirits, and they need to be nurtured just like our physical bodies! I jokingly say that I am getting a “spiritual spanking” when I pour myself into a soulful read, journal, or meditate. It’s easy to feel like you’re just coasting by in life, so a spanking will surely wake you up. Because this life is for living, and if we’re not living we’re simply dying.


Here are three things that will dig you up from your grave, and help you begin living again; physically, mentally, and spiritually.


1. Ice Rolling

Ice rolling energizes and tightens your skin, which gives you natural contouring! I’m not kidding, I seriously feel years younger when I look in the mirror after and even during ice rolling. Certainly not feeling dead anymore the second this baby hits my face!


Ice rolling will prime your face for makeup, shrink your pores, and freeze your wrinkles. This little tool really is the shit. Puffy eyes or face after a night of drinking? Not a problem, your ice rollers got you sis.


So, Ice rolling at home is basically a DIY cryotherapy session with yourself. It’s incredible, and I am so happy that I found my ice roller which is linked here. This one is perfect because it stays cold for hours and covers large areas of my face at once, so I barely have to roll much. I usually only roll for about three to five minutes anyways, but I love that it’s still freezing cold! Ice rollers I’ve used in the past allowed my body’s natural temperature to warm them resulting in me not gaining my desired results. I also roll on my neck and chest, and the ice roller is perfect for if you experience migraines. We all know how terrible those can feel, and most of us will try anything

2. A Good Book


Reading is one of the best ways you can practice the art of self-care! Through the pandemic I promised myself that I would read more. I believe we as humans should always strive to expand our worldly knowledge through experience and information. If you’re not growing you’re dying as stated above, and if you’re reading this article you’re probably feeling a little dead already, so grow baby grow!


While carving out the time to read a tangible book may be doable to some, it’s simply not practical for most. I get it, you are busy. Between balancing work, life, and trying to maintain a social life... and that is ok. You and everyone else living on planet Earth in today’s day and age, where becoming distracted by technology is more common than not. I have some books I love to physically hold in my hands, so that I can feel and smell the pages. While others I enjoy listening to on Audible while I grocery shop, cook, or workout.
